Results wednesday and thursday tip

Benjordyn .Finished 3rd a bit dissapointing as thought it might have won this race but ah well always tomorrow no great damage done.
Fighting fox .Nice first up ran sat 2 back on fence and had to wait for sprint lane gave the winner to much start but ran on ok to finish just behind placegetters.
Ballarat
Only the one and you will have to be forgiving but
a 2yo can do that 2/5 Atomic aussie. Fast time geelong trial winner who finished last at its only start

Lano big run to finish 2nd by shortest possible marjin went forward from outside front then deathseated got the one out one back trial come home well to just fail.
Diamond and furs also 2nd also beaten by shortest possible marjin was heavily backed.
Safely nova Driver queried re tactics got into heaps of trouble maybe forget run.

Harold Park Wednesday

Have a 2yo at Harold park (country meeting) with a big chance on trial form
8/2 Casino court Won trial in good time at goulborn (not sure how the trial form stacks up) so tread a bit wary but will go close if the time it run is repeated. It does have consistent race form

Shepparton Wednesday afternoon

3/11 Benjordyn .Fairly easy kilmore trial winner in ok time won at first start in a race and will be improved for last run outside draw is against but chance.
7/1 Fighting fox. Trial winner also at Kilmore first up here nicely drawn so perhaps a rough each way chance.

Doncaster Handicap

I have rated Al Maher on top, his last start win was simply outstanding, and although he loses the Callow factor here, he does get some weight off them and from barrier 6 with a bunch of backmarkers on his inside, he should have an easy run on the rails. The other important thing is that the track does not degrade further, although at the current rating (Slow-6) he should be ok.

Al Maher 91.5
Danni Martine 71.5
Desert War 68
Court's In Session 65
Tui Song 64.5
Toulouse Lautrec 63
Winning Belle 61
Ike's Dream 57
Patezza 54

In the Victoria Handicap at Cualfield I like the consistent Youth.

Best of luck punters as always.

Geelong tuesday night

Not a great deal here but maybe a couple at fair prices which have a chance
4/7 Lano .Led from outside draw at terang in fast run race taken on and dropped out this is easier but has outside draw again chance if get an easier run.
6/7 Diamonds and furs good winner last start may not be much value here but is smart.
6/10 Safely nova akward draw did win trial at Bendigo in ok time and maybe value include in quinella and trifectas

3 Starters for 2nd 3rd and unplaced so pretty consistent.
Yarra valley. Tactical dreamer missed start by breaking in score up then trailed field caught up and started to go around 3 wide worth following.
Lector Hannibil ran home ok for 3rd beaten a fair way
Bendigo
No share left. Big run came home hard to just fail to catch the winner on the improve now so will pay to follow.
We also missed a winner Robric Walter didnt post it as it ran at a non tab meeting on saturday for a 2nd which was its 3rd start which is all i give them paid $8 on sunday at Bendigo so not happy

Saturday 26/3 Results

Interesting day of racing...

Caulfield:

Race 5, no.2: Our Smoking Joe

Disappointing, unplaced.

Race 7, no.2: Holding (IF WET)

Scratched

Belmont:

Race 6, no.1: Plastered

Got there, fairly short as expected.

Randwick:

Race 3, no. 2: Don Raphael

Didn't handle the heavy track at all.

Race 4, no. 5: Alinghi

I didn't see the race immediately, but when I saw the results I nearly fell out of my chair.

Race 5, no. 9: Mnemosyne

Second to Fashions Afield, nice run, consistent but not able to break through. Champagne definitely possible.

Race 6, no. 1: Eremein

Saluted in fine style.

Best of luck punters as always.

So:

5 tips:

One at Echuca

Will put this up for you people although not sure we will get any value 3/7 Northern danjaro Was a big winner at Cobram draw against him tonight dangers the 2 8 10 and rough chance to the 3.
The 2 beat him first up but did it very tough in that race.

Sunday Yarra glen and Bendigo

Nothing at Echuca tonight so will concentrate on bendigo and Yarra valley.
Yarra valley.3/1 Tactical dreamer debuted at Kilmore on friday heavily backed and finished 4th will improve but this is a hard field the 3 and 7 are smart.
4/7 Lector hannibil has dissapointed but won trial at Geelong on monday in smart time so could improve at odds
Bendigo 4/4 Dream saver Emergency but is a chance if gets a start ordinary race.
8/10 No share left has been long odds at all its starts but can improve here in a no form race

March 25, 2005

Saturday 26/3

Big day coming up with three G1's in Sydney, and of course the famous Oakbank jumps races, not to mention a couple of interesting races at Caulfield.

Caulfield:

Race 5, no.2: Our Smoking Joe

Has not had the slightest luck at all this preparation, trapped behind Youth when first up over 1400m, and then a few things didn't go his way last time. The step up to 2000m will suit and he should put up a bold showing, with top heavyweight S. Arnold on.

Race 7, no.2: Holding (IF WET)

If the track is wet, this mudlark will win in a canter, but should put in a bold showing regardless.

Belmont:

Race 6, no.1: Plastered

VRC Derby winner should be much too good for these.

Randwick:

Race 3, no. 2: Don Raphael

Saab Quality winner who should relish the increase in distance and drop in weight. Form encouraging and at last start charged from last at the 400m mark to finish 5th, albeit three lengths off. Group One Glen won't hurt either.

Race 4, no. 5: Alinghi

Outstanding sprinting filly who has improved considerably over the course of this preparation, whereas Fastnet Rock, whilst nevertheless racing extremely well, hasn't progressed like the filly has. Weight pull is slightly less than last start but Alinghi should still salute.

Race 5, no. 9: Mnemosyne

Absolutely flew home after missing the start a couple of lengths in the Golden Slipper. Every indication that the 1400m will suit her down to the ground.

Race 6, no. 1: Eremein

In true Denham style, more steak than sizzle. Just keeps racing well in similar company to what he meets here.

Best of luck punters as always.

R1: Tarn Princess narrowly beaten for second, Suite was extremely disappointing.

R2: Simply Rossa second to a very impressive winner in Luminary.

R3: Above Deck won very nicely on the turn, Noel Callow doing everything to make sure he got home.

R4: Just Heaven not sighted, but Korcula flashed home for third in a very impressive considering her weight (60 Kg), definitely one to follow.

R5: Governor Macquarie was going at a cracking pace with the second and third place getters, and he wilted to finish fourth.

R6: Consumer did not fire a shot.

R7: Fine Distraction only able to manage third.

Result geelong and Marybourgh and kilmore thursday

Kilmore classic 2nd. Cant comment as wasnt able to view race.
Marybourgh
1/7 Herdon , trial winner but not real flash time but did win in easy fashion lots of first starters in race so tread wary but worth a gamble
2/8 Frans jewell placed at Valley in country front race but does have ability chance from bad draw
Kilmore
Interesting race 5/3 Flying assault fair run first up and will be fitter but not really fancied last start chance on best form

5/9 Sassy sarah. This is a top horse who has been out of form for awhile has raced against the best and would win if anywhere near right but that is the question.Won a trial at Geelong in ordinary time but by nice marjin perhaps prefer to wait and see if stikes form this time in for mine.

Wednesday Tips

Ballarat:

Race 5, no.10: Raphael

Drops 5 Kg from eight length last start defeat when favourite at Moonee Valley. Before that bolted in over same track and distance as he races today, albeit in easier class. Well placed here.

Race 6, no.6: Pawie

Hasn't been as bad as record (1 win from 7 starts) would indicate. Beaten 4.5 lengths in city last start, a form line which does not read badly for this. From powerful Freedman stable, to be ridden by top young jockey B. Shinn.

Race 7, no.8: Clare Vista

Zabeel filly who was an impressive maiden winner last start, can go on with it here. From top notch Mayfield-Smith stable. Forest Spy for the quinella.

Canterbury:

Race 1, no.1: Danrese

Last start winner at Rosehill, and takes on a bunch of plodders here. Beadman rides - will start short.

Race 2, no.1: Raid and Rule

Durable gelding who has won 3 from 6 first up, and there is no reason he cannot salute this time.

Race 7, no.11: Sky Fury

Tim Martin trained gelding by Danehill who has been thereabouts without being able to break through. Gets in nicely on the weights and this could be his race.

Best of luck punters.

Trial results

Asked by a newbie to trots about the importance of trials.A horse has to run a qualifying time at a registered track to gain a start in a race, also if a horse does something wrong it will be sent back to the trials to re qualify. This is where i pick up some nice priced winners as they may change the gear and horse improves and then races more tractably.
Hope this helps Desi sorry about delay in answering your query.

Terang Tuesday

A bit confident about a couple here and also giving one another chance although i swore it was sacked for life (a forgiving person me)
6/7 Lano drawn a bit akward is my only worry down a bit in class so big chance.
7/1 Quick cruisin .This is the horse i sacked for life but hard to ignore its trial form.Had 3 runs since 2003 and did improve a bit last start won a trial at terang on sub 2 minute rate beating the obvious fav in this Als rocket and beautifully drawn good chance take with als rocket.
8/2 Diamond and furs nice draw gives it a real chance here won trial here

8/10Ruthless Knight Very fast Ballarat trial winner drawn a bit against but still big chance perhaps take the quinella with 2

Finally a winner

Well we bounced back into the winners list short price but hey a winner is a winner the 7 ran the quinella.Hopefully the start of a good week for us as have a few at Terang that i quite like.

results Cranbourne

No joy again but as i stated wasnt sure about fitness of Illawong nugget backed to favorite moved up to win race then faded needed run follow next start will get the money(Stablemate on same prep did the same last night)
Blind turn probably out of its class will do better after the run,
We will have a better week this week or i shall give it away.

Monday Cobram

Think we might bounce back into the winners list this week after my worst tipping week ever.Have only one today but should just about win
1/5 Northern Danjero Was heavily backed first up and raced wide to finish 3rd not beaten far and will be fitter. The 4 and the 7 seem to be likely dangers but hopefully this could be the start of a good week for us.

Posted by Barney in Trot Tips at 11:09 AM | Comments (0) | Permalink

Cranbourne Sunday

Only the 2 today
1/7 Illawong nugett .First up from fairly long spell had fair form last time in and won a trial at Geelong to prepare for this cant be real sure how fit it is but chance in this.
4/7 Blind turn .Not a bad run first up although was beaten fairly easily should be fitter now and may sneak into a place at fair odds.

3/5 Alalamo Dropped out at start and realy didnt do that much finished midfield the 6 was much to good as expected.

7/6 Watch your eyes .Probably is the one to follow out of the night moved up to win race but tired and finished 4th just behind the placegetters will improve next start.

8/1 Junior jasper. Race was won by the 4 who was long odds on slow away but had every chance.

Slipper Day Wrap-Up

Quite a remarkable day of racing saw the emergence of a new star in Stratum, and simply confirmed what we all knew, that Makybe Diva is a champion, even though some of us might not have tipped her!

Tips:

Flemington:

Race 1, no.2: Refute

Disappointing effort to only finish third behind this lot. Paid only $1.10.

Race 2, no.2: Conrod Straight

Third again, this time paying $3.00.

Race 3, no.9: Uprize

Won handsomely. $3.20 and $1.50.

Race 5, no.4: Under The Floor

Just grabbed in the shadows of the post by Danger Looms. Paid $1.20 for the place.

Race 6, no.15: Barely A Moment

Was up around the pace and faded to finish out of the placings. They absolutely flew around, allowing Grey Song (!) to charge home and win. I don't think anyone ever saw a stayer like him winning a Group 2 race over 1600m, but good luck to him.

Race 7, no.1: Bondy

Second to Pantaini, for whom the unorthodox preparation worked wonders. Great effort by Robbie Laing to think outside the square. Bondy will be a contender in any race of this distance, especially the Sydney Cup where he has only 50.5 Kg, down from 58 Kg today. Top ride from Noel Callow on the winner as well.

Race 8, no.2: Kylikwong

Second. Anyone sensing a pattern here?

So, 7 tips, for 1 winner, 3 second and 2 third. That's racing.

Rosehill

Race 1, no.6: Radetzky March

Scratched.

Race 3, no.1: Renewable

Really disappointing, failed to run on at all in the straight, although I don't think Danny Nikolic will remember it as one of his best rides.

Race 4, no.1: Hollow Bullet

Won very impressively, charging home down the inside to beat Lotteria. Here's your AJC Oaks winner. $3.90 and $1.50.

Race 5, no.1: Grand Armee

Beaten by a champion of the turf. What more can you say? $1.10 for second.

Race 6, no.2: Desert War

Ultra disappointing. Court's In Session dictated terms without any pressure from Regal Roller, who was ridden poorly, not even getting on the rail which we all know he needs to perform well. As for Desert War, had almost the run of the race but faded badly. I'm beginning to suspect his Epsom win was simply due to the light weight he carried that day (50.5 Kg).

Race 7, no.12: Mnemosyne

Missed the start about two lengths, and flashed home to finish fourth.

Race 8, no.2: Ike's Dream

With Alinghi out was always going to be the one to beat, and won as expected paying $2.90 and $1.50.

Six tips for two winners, and one second.

So, overall:

13 tips, 3 winners, 4 second, and 2 third.

Didn't quite have all the luck today, but that's racing.

TJH.

Saturday tips Ballarat

Very hard night but have 3 qualifiers and a bit keen on one.
3/5 Alalamo .Nice debut when led at the valley last friday(day meeting) will be improved but a bit of form in race but place chance for sure 2 & 6 have good form.
7/6 Watch your eyes First up since July but prepared for this with trial win at Geelong in good time big chance here.
8/1 Junior jasper. Hard to tip a horse that finished last at last start but has won at the Valley and to be driven by B Gath nice draw still hard to see it beating the 4 place chance

Elsu makes history

The Kiwi champion Elsu has joined only 2 other horses to go through the series unbeaten a great effort when you consider 4 runs in 2 weeks.
The trotters final was a complete boilover with the favorites all out of a place.
Next years series will be back in Australia and hopefully get more media coverage

Saturday Racing

An absolutely huge weekend of racing coming up, with the Golden Slipper and BMW in Sydney being the obvious highlights, not to mention the three other Group 1's up there. In Melbourne, the Blamey Stakes, and VRC Sires Produce Stakes are two very interesting races as well.

Flemington:

Race 1, no.2: Refute

The Greame Rogerson trained, Lloyd Williams owned horse should be too strong for this lot. 2000m is not a worry as he has always seemed suited to a longer distance.

Race 2, no.2: Conrod Straight

Last start beaten just a neck by the highly promising Snippetson - excellent form line for this.

Race 3, no.9: Uprize

Gets 4 Kg for being beaten less than a length by Lyrical Bid last start, and should be able to turn the tables here.

Race 5, no.4: Under The Floor

Won in fine style last start and one would suspect he will reproduce here. Only beaten at first start by highly rated filly Opportunity.

Race 6, no.15: Barely A Moment

Hasn't had a lot of luck this preparation, but is quite a smart colt. Gets in here with only 50 Kg, and you would expect him to make a big showing from barrier one.

Race 7, no.1: Bondy

Tough, dour stayer who will keep going all day and into the best part of tomorrow. 3200m is his distance and he should have the goods here. Not much else of note here, except that Robbie Laing has given Pantani an unorthodox preparation, trialling him on several occasions, but not racing him, with the belief that racing over shorter distances is a waste with a horse like him. In any case, it will be interesting to see how he goes.

Race 8, no.2: Kylikwong

Second last start over 1400m, and will get better with the extra 200m. Class horse only beaten by the smallest of margins in the VRC Oaks by Hollow Bullet last year.

Rosehill

Race 1, no.6: Radetzky March

Impressive type who drops 3 Kg from last start second behind Kablammo. Should hold out an ordinary bunch here.

Race 3, no.1: Renewable

Best of these easily, some of whom I am convinced are entered to get their owners a ticket into the members on Slipper day. Will start very short.

Race 4, no.1: Hollow Bullet

VRC Oaks winner gets a longer distance and back to 3YO fillies class here. Form lines behind the main danger Lotteria are very questionable.

Race 5, no.1: Grand Armee

Australia's best horse. Up to 2400m, which is the query, but he has the class to handle it. Makybe Diva is obviously the main danger, although Cheval de Troy is one who should be watched.

Race 6, no.2: Desert War

I think that Regal Roller and Court's In Session are the best two horses here, but there will be so much pace at the front (Osca Warrior as well, if he goes in this one) that they will wear each other down.

Race 7, no.12: Mnemosyne

Darren Beadman had the option to ride about half the field (not quite, but at least four) so he clearly rates this filly as the best of that lot. Has been very consistent, and with some luck is as good a chance as any in a wide open race.

Race 8, no.2: Ike's Dream

Okay, Alinghi is clearly the outstanding horse in the field, but with the increase in trip to 1500m, adjusting to Sydney way of going, and wide draw, she is vulnerable, and you will almost certainly not get what I would consider a fair price ($3.30). Ike's Dream is a very nice mare who is back to around her ideal distance, and has Dazzling Darren aboard.

Best of luck punters,

TJH.

Interdominion grand final

Tonight is the night when Elsu can join Village kid and Young Quinn as the only horses to clean sweep the prestigious series.Rated at $1.65 favorite soon backed in to be $1.50 in New Zealand on monday it seems only the draw and extreme bad luck can beat him.Other chance to Just an excuse and the surrise packet Bobs blue boy.Sokoyola has drawn barrier 5 and could lead but doesnt seem to be handling the right handed way of going.
In the trotters final a lot depends on the manners of the favorite Delft who if he trots all the way should be to quick for them.Dangers include Lyell creek and perhaps Sammy do good with a rough chance to Too much to do @$21.

My tips

Been asked by a punter how come i didnt select Lano a couple weeks ago so thought i would explain a little bit about my system

System is based purely on trial results.I have a data base which keeps all horses which reach my qualifying time in a recent trial section for 1 month or until 3 starts which ever comes 1st.After the month or 3 starts they then go into the main data base where they remain until i delete them usually after 2 years.I keep them for that long so i can study horses that go best when fresh or after a few runs for my personal interest.Lano the horse in question qualified for my system then didnt race after being a late scratching so therfore had gone from my recent trial section into main database hope this explains.I do suggest that you give my selections 3 starts over any period for best results.I use a slightly different time qualification in Nsw for my trials.May change the Vic one shortly but that may take some longshots out of system.I should explain i only go to my main database weekly not daily as there is approx 1000 horses on it at any one time.
