Saturday 2/9
Huge day of racing tomorrow, so no time for mucking around!
Melbourne
Craiglee Stakes
Very interesting race here with some fairly dour staying types resuming or have second run or so. In this race, I like the David Hayes trained Confectioner.
He just wasn't mature enough last Spring, but this time I feel he should be ready to fire.
Has an outstanding first up record, three wins from four starts, and I believe he has the ability to register a first up win here.
Our Smoking Joe the major threat.
Ascot Vale Stakes
The Graham Begg trained Written Tycoon is my selection in this one. First up run was outstanding behind top filly Media, and performed well in a jump out at Flemington during the week. In form hoop Danny Nikolic rides. Undoubtedly for the quinella.
Let's Elope Stakes
The NZ filly She's Justa Tad is all class. Tragedy beaten in the AJC Oaks, and apparently her first up run in NZ over only 1200 was excellent. Harshly treated at the weights but has the class to overcome it.
TCL Electronics Stakes
Lieutenant is a classy miler type who has won at Group level multiple times. First up run in Sydney behind Lotteria was sound, and the Hawkes' are very astute when it comes to placing their horses between cities. Excellent second up record as well.
Bobbie Lewis Quality
Really open race with a number of good chances. Titanic Jack put in a really good run first up in the McEwen Trophy, and with a bit more fitness, should put up a show. Class galloper on his day, and loves the track.
Sydney
Chelmsford Stakes
There are two Natural Blitz's. There is the one who runs on tracks with the slightest moisture. This Natural Blitz is good for nothing other than dog food.
Then, there is the Natural Blitz who runs on dry tracks. This Natural Blitz is a high class performer.
Natural Blitz is worth an each way bet, IF AND ONLY IF, THE TRACK IS BONE DRY. IF THE GROUNDSTAFF HAVE SPILT A BOTTLE OF WATER AT THE 800m MARK, DO NOT BACK HIM. I CANNOT EMPHASISE THIS POINT ENOUGH.
If the track is wet, Dizelle is worth a bet.
Roman Consul Stakes
Stratum should win here, but, odds on, look on, is a principle which has served us well.
Furious Stakes
My girl Mnemosyne has finally cracked it for a win, and the juggernaut is about to take off. It is nice to have Media in the race so we get a price about the new Alinghi.
Tramway Handicap
Lotteria will be too brilliant for these. The $2.50 is about a fair price.
Best of luck punters.
