Hunter cup
The running of the Hunter cup on a sunday was a topic of contrevrsy amongst harness fans.Attendance seemed good not sure of tote holds but seemed reasonable. To me the standing start detracts from a race which draws the best horses from both sides of the Tasman. My selectons werent really close although my best roughie Tromos finished 2nd.
Both the winner and 2nd horse used the sprint lane.

Oldest driver
just listened to the 4th race at Marybourgh(we tipped the winner) and the horse that ran 2nd was driven by the oldest driver in Australia len (curly) Orwin also in the race was Bob Birthisel who wouldnt be far behind .I would guess Curly would be close to 80, has had some good horses in his day but has been a long time between drinks.
I remember a few years ago they took all the drivers licenses of them at 65 then had to give it back because of discrimanation laws so heres old Curly going around again good on them, nearly stole the race as well.

Trial results
Asked by a newbie to trots about the importance of trials.A horse has to run a qualifying time at a registered track to gain a start in a race, also if a horse does something wrong it will be sent back to the trials to re qualify. This is where i pick up some nice priced winners as they may change the gear and horse improves and then races more tractably.
Hope this helps Desi sorry about delay in answering your query.

Elsu makes history
The Kiwi champion Elsu has joined only 2 other horses to go through the series unbeaten a great effort when you consider 4 runs in 2 weeks.
The trotters final was a complete boilover with the favorites all out of a place.
Next years series will be back in Australia and hopefully get more media coverage

Interdominion grand final
Tonight is the night when Elsu can join Village kid and Young Quinn as the only horses to clean sweep the prestigious series.Rated at $1.65 favorite soon backed in to be $1.50 in New Zealand on monday it seems only the draw and extreme bad luck can beat him.Other chance to Just an excuse and the surrise packet Bobs blue boy.Sokoyola has drawn barrier 5 and could lead but doesnt seem to be handling the right handed way of going.
In the trotters final a lot depends on the manners of the favorite Delft who if he trots all the way should be to quick for them.Dangers include Lyell creek and perhaps Sammy do good with a rough chance to Too much to do @$21.

Interdom results
Elsu contined on its good work only needs to win the final to be the first horse in 20 ywears to go through undefeated,i think that it will acheive that feat.
The other results Young rufus won as did Bobs blue boy to add some interest.
Sokyola got into all sorts of trouble but has still managed to qualify for final.

Interdominion 3rd round heats
The big question is can Elsu be the first horse in 20 years to go through the series undefeated.
IST HEAT Elsu seems to be no dangers Just an excuse if there is an upset
2nd Heat Harnetts creek nicely drawn and top chance Mont denver gold needs a big run to qualify for final also Howard Bromac is a chance
3rd Heat Sokoyala better draw here and could lead take beating if he does Winforu has been consistent and hexus will be finishing hard

Interdominion heats 2nd round
The 2nd round heats are being held today and for what it is worth here are my thoughts.
Heat 1/ Probably the most open heat with Just an excuse the one to beat but chances to hexus and Young rufus
Heat2 Sokoyola has 2nd row draw but still should be the winner im giving a chance to Mont denver gold and Winforu
Heat 3 Sum it up in one word Elsu no dangers.
good punting.

My tips
Been asked by a punter how come i didnt select Lano a couple weeks ago so thought i would explain a little bit about my system
System is based purely on trial results.I have a data base which keeps all horses which reach my qualifying time in a recent trial section for 1 month or until 3 starts which ever comes 1st.After the month or 3 starts they then go into the main data base where they remain until i delete them usually after 2 years.I keep them for that long so i can study horses that go best when fresh or after a few runs for my personal interest.Lano the horse in question qualified for my system then didnt race after being a late scratching so therfore had gone from my recent trial section into main database hope this explains.I do suggest that you give my selections 3 starts over any period for best results.I use a slightly different time qualification in Nsw for my trials.May change the Vic one shortly but that may take some longshots out of system.I should explain i only go to my main database weekly not daily as there is approx 1000 horses on it at any one time.

Interdominion starts today friday
Just thought i would post my thoughts on the first round of heats
Heat 1 flashing red and Just an excuse look the best of these
Heat 2 Sokoyola if anywhere near right is the one to beat.Has been of the scene after its last couple runs were a bit disapointing Mr d g and Smooth satin looks the best of the rest
Heat 3Elsu shoud just win from the pole Young rufus has good gate speed.
Remember the Aussie horses will be racing on a right handed track may for the first time so tread careful.
