View Full Version : Time to pay the piper!

This weekend the site will become a paid membership site.
We're keeping the price right down so punters can easily afford to join. The tips provided here sometimes change the odds so we need to limit access in some way. The price will be $19 for a year's membership or $9 for 90 days, both with a 30-day money back guarantee.
All current members will receive a three month membership for free, while all new members will need to part with a few dollars to get access to the site.
In the end this measure will actually save paid members money as the tips are in the hands of fewer people and the odds are adversely affected less often.

We all have to realise there is a cost factor involved in running the site and Adrian has carried that burden for a long period now.
The cost is just a token amount and hopefully keep out the spammers as well.
Cheers
Barney
The competitions that are run can then have a small prize attached

PLUS - Tell your friends if they are thinking of joining they should register and account on or before Friday in order to get the free 90-day membership.

Can we make that retrospective given my success in the tipping comp?:D :D :D

I am sure we can also do things like give out 90 day memberships (just add 90 days onto the expiry date of your membership) for tipping comps and the like.

So are we paying for the service to view specific members tips? Or are we paying for the service to use this website and post our own tips and discussion points?
Just my own personal thoughts.
Wouldn't it be better having a "subscribers" thread where those who have subscribed and paid can view. It would involve those specific members tips and discussion.
Whilst the others are still able to post their own in the 'other' section for free?
Barney

Mate paying to view tips and have a forum where you can discuss any thing without being banned if you mention an opposition product. Most sites i go to have pop ups which are annoying and also only let you mention the sponsors products, none of that on this site.We let people actualy advertise their horses free of charge and if you pay for one year it is only $1.60 per month. And no charge for the month if my tips have a losing month.
Unfortunately in this day and age nothing is free and Adrian has paid for this site and the old insiderail himself.
Cheers

You get access to all of the boards to read, post and discuss punting and punting tips.
We will probably have a little Sportingbet.com.au ad as they are big sponsors of BigFooty.com and I promised Ken at SB I'd eventually throw in an ad here. Nothing obtrusive though and we don't get any extra dough for it.

And no charge for the month if my tips have a losing month.I dunno that we can do that with this software though. It would involve manually adding a month to every subscriber. I don't want the RSI! Maybe you just promise to do a nude run around your block at the end of any month in which you lose :)

Hi Barney and Adrian and punters.
As a past contributor to this fine sight I can tell people that the time and ffort is well worth the small token asked as a fee.
After having also supplied tips for a Gold Coast Newspaper which someone later turned into a $33 a week subscription site I think that as u can post your views unfiltered here that it is the best site around.
After being involved in horse bookmaking for 25 yrs and punting for 35 I think the value for $ 19 is the best investment you will make with comparitive sights and I no we done try and tip $ 1.20 pops here and make them our EXCLUSIVE DAILY SPECIAL as do other better known and dearer sights.
Best wishes

I'll stay onboard as long as most of the regulars do. I'd like to know how you can tell this site has affected the price of a certain runner though?
Also it might be quite hard to attract new members if they have to pay upfront before viewing anything, i guess thats the catch 22 about it, underpriced runners vs possible wealth of knowledge missed.
But in saying that this is the chance to get an exclusive forum with quality tips going, as i can't see the borderline racing fan bothering to pay to write.
I guess time will tell huh?
And hopefully some of you will come out from behind those trees and say something!

I agree costs should be recouped and thanks for all the effort thats gone into this site. I have no problem with none pop-up ads to make some money either. Don't get me wrong as I have no problem paying the $19 but it amuses me that I've just tipped the winner of the NZ Cup, The exacta in the Miracle Mile and declared Blacks A Fake in the Treuer and I'd be paying to give these tips! Will there be any record of who's actually profitable to follow? :p

This is my first post. I am a virgin poster/forumer. One of this site members talked about a site which has scammers, etc. I know which site he means.
It has a forum and adjacent form etc. Anyhow, I was on the site for sometime and all we got was some inane individuals asking dumb questions or some scammers (heaps actually) pushing their products. Quite frankly, Iv'e had enough. Hopefully, things will be better here on INSIDE RAIL. By the way, the site referred to has now self-destructed !! Some computing stuff-up.
I won't miss it.
I lied about being a virgin !!!!!!:D :) ;)
I bet mainly dogs and a bit on the horses. I'm into form analysis big time.
I tried to pay my 12 months now but had problems. Do we have to wait to .......... ???
Is PAY-PAL the only method allowable ??

I thought we had 3 months?
The 3 months was i guess when Adrian posted going into pay site mode on 30/10/06 and he is giving until 31/1/07.
Also if i see any scamming i will just delete the post no questions asked, dont mind if some one wants to sell a horse or something similar but out and out scamming or touting will be deleted as will abuse to one another.
To have a friendly site where people feel free to post tips and not get abused is the object of this site and will remain the object.
Hopefully in the new year our tipping comps will be for prizes to add interest and meetups will be organised.
Realise that some people wont be happy and will drop out but that is something i cant help.
Cheers

Currently 605 members of this site.
I can name Oaks, Moeee, Thor, Chadman, Sporty and myself for the dogs.
Pete, sportz, coxy and stix in the horses.
C-underfire, sidney87, barney, maitland trots and village kid in the trots. If i forgot anyone i apologise thats off the top off my head.
That leaves me with 590 members i cannot name. 590 members that rarely if ever actually post.
Loose a few of the above mentioned and the whole nucleus is gone!

I have been a member of an American site for some time now. I thought that I had to go "off-shore" as I couldn't find anywhere where punters wanted to talk about form analysis etc etc I write under the name "zoom_top" You may know about it. They talk exclusively about handicapping and wagering on greyhounds. I have only just discovered this site and I am pleased that I did. As you know things here are not exactly the same as the states but the theory and psychology are not all that different. I too will pay as soon as possible in the hope that I can discuss my "passion" with other like-minded souls. :) :) :)

I selected the 365 day option, then as soon as it went to Paypal I got the error code. It may just be that one must have an Australian IP address or Paypal flags it. I am in the U.S.
I had no problem whatever sendiing it directly from my Paypal account.

The temporary solution is here: http://www.insiderail.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2
It invlolves the extra step of letting us know you subscribed, but that step will go when I work out why VBulletin won't link up to PayPal. Probably a very minor setting somewhere.
